Development Bylaw Amendments Approved

The Town of Three Rivers is pleased to announce that the Honourable Darlene Compton, Minister of Land and Environment, has approved the Town's Development Bylaw amendments.

The amendments were adopted by Council following an extensive public review process and submitted to the Province for approval. We are pleased that the Minister approved the bylaw without any changes, recognizing the significant work undertaken by Council, residents, and Town staff throughout the review process.

The amended Development Bylaw came into effect on July 30, 2026, the date of the Minister's signature. Effective immediately, all new Development Permit applications will be reviewed under the amended bylaw.

The updated bylaw strengthens local oversight of development, supports housing opportunities, reduces unnecessary administrative red tape, and modernizes the Town's planning framework while maintaining transparency and public accountability.

Council extends its sincere appreciation to everyone who participated in the review process. Thank you to the many residents who attended public meetings and provided valuable feedback—many of your suggestions were incorporated into the final bylaw. We also recognize the outstanding work of the Town's Planning Department, whose professionalism and expertise guided Council and the community through this comprehensive review.

The approved Development Bylaw is available here, and planning staff are happy to answer any questions residents may have.
